Lady Chique RIP
on Mar 25 in Bristol, Culture, Random tagged by Peter BlackmanToday The Free Thinker is upset.
We’re upset because it looks as if one of our favourite landmarks on our journey into work might be closing. Lady Chique is up for sale.
We’re sad not because it means we’ll have to shop for our Prom gowns elsewhere. We currently have no Prom to go to. No, we’re sad because what we love about Lady Chique is that they thought about the fact that they were located on a busy road, right by a traffic light controlled junction. Which means that for long periods of the day they either have static cars outside their shop, or traffic is crawling past during the morning and evening rush hours.
So they built their own poster site. What’s more - they refresh it with their own creative on a regular basis.
The business is probably going online, and the digerati out there will no doubt crow that it is another example of how ‘old’ media can’t save a business. What we feel is sad about it is that Lady Chique is the type of outlet which never receives the same kind of mourning as the loss of an organic baker (for example) when a Tesco Metro moves in next door.
Lady Chique - we’ll miss you. Your advertising brightens up a dull cycle to work.
